On a lush green South Pacific Island sur­rounded by pris­tine white beaches and cool, clear aqua­ma­rine waters. Or in a medieval Ital­ian vil­lage with nar­row cob­ble­stone streets and panoramic vis­tas of vine­yards and dis­tant hill­sides. Or maybe down­town Toronto, New York or Barcelona is more your style. Or how about hav­ing the oppor­tu­nity of liv­ing in all of these places, mov­ing from one loca­tion to another as the desire strikes.

With­out los­ing your income or com­pro­mis­ing your lifestyle!!

I know. I sound a lit­tle bit like a snake oil sales­per­son, but the real­ity is that a grow­ing num­ber of indi­vid­u­als of all ages are liv­ing just that kind of lifestyle!

They are design­ing lifestyles for them­selves that are totally, com­pletely, loca­tion inde­pen­dent, sup­ported by careers or enter­prises that are com­pletely portable. These uncon­ven­tional lifestyle designs pro­vide these indi­vid­u­als with the free­dom to pur­sue inter­est­ing adven­tures, expe­ri­ences, and career oppor­tu­ni­ties wher­ever they present themselves.

Not all nomadic lifestyles need to be ‘nomadic’.

There are any num­ber of rea­sons to want a loca­tion inde­pen­dent lifestyle that do not involve any travel at all. For exam­ple, you might find your­self liv­ing in a com­mu­nity that doesn’t fit your per­son­al­ity in order to remain within com­mut­ing dis­tance of a job you really enjoy doing.

Or your dream might be to spend win­ters in the big city and sum­mers at the cot­tage beside the lake (O.K. that one does require a lit­tle bit of trav­el­ing — but not much

Although a nomadic, loca­tion inde­pen­dent lifestyle can take many shapes, depend­ing mostly on what the indi­vid­ual is look­ing for, there are a cou­ple of basic char­ac­ter­is­tics that all nomadic, loca­tion inde­pen­dent lifestyles share:

1. It’s a very portable lifestyle with few, if any, ties to any one location;
2. Par­tic­i­pants of this lifestyle work vir­tu­ally from home, with “home’ being poten­tially any­where in the world;
3. Par­tic­i­pants earn an income that sup­ports their cho­sen lifestyle from an enter­prise that is com­pletely portable; and
4. Par­tic­i­pants are not only pas­sion­ate about the careers they have cho­sen, but they are also pas­sion­ate about the free­dom that this loca­tion inde­pen­dent lifestyle gives them.
