Welcome to Ageless Nomads

Yep! This is me. Hi there! And welcome to the Ageless Nomads website.

The Ageless Nomads website is about life, work, and travel strategies for adventurous women of all ages (but particularly those of us who are aged 55 and over), who want to be successful online entrepreneurs, creating the lifestyle you love, while doing work that you are passionate about, from anywhere there’s an Internet connection!

Ageless Nomads are location independent entrepreneurs, also known as laptop lifestylers, who are enjoying a lifestyle that allows them to work from anywhere in the world where they can connect to the Internet. Whether it’s travelling the world, or spending time with family, or simply having the freedom to visit your local cafe whenever you want to…..Ageless Nomads enjoy the freedom to choose!

Not terribly keen on traveling, not to worry! The Ageless Nomad, location independent lifestyle also provides individuals with the potential to gain more control over how they spend their days – whether it’s taking care of loved ones, learning a new hobby, renovating your home, gardening in the middle of the day, meeting friends for lunch, etc.

This website and my personal quest to become an Ageless Nomad, began several years ago when I started reading about Location Independent Professionals and the way they were using the Internet and modern media to design extraordinary, unconventional lives for themselves.

So I thought, “What the heck? This sounds doable.” and decided to take the plunge.

Along the way, I got sidetracked by an unexpected illness that has taken a few years to overcome, but I’m back on track and raring to go!

The Ageless Nomads website focuses on practical, how-to information that you can use to break the huge task of setting up your own online business/location independent lifestyle. This website is an action research-based, case study of what to do, how to do it , and when to do it liberally sprinkled with some step-by-step discussion and analysis of what I have done, what resources I have used, what’s worked, what’s not worked as well as I had hoped, and what’s been a complete disaster!

For me, there are three sets of skills that I believe every Ageless Nomad, or location independent professional should have a workable level of knowledge in. They are:

  1. Technical Skills – this are the fundamental skills that you need to create an online business with,
  2. Entrepreneurial Skills – these are the strategic planning, business development, marketing skills that you need to grow your online business with, plus knowing what type of business you want to create (coaching, writing, mentoring, teaching, skills-oriented, service-oriented, etc.), and
  3. Lifestyle Design Skills – these are the skills that help you really enjoy your new lifestyle.

As for me, well, I’m single with two grown kids – a son who lives at home, and a daughter who married last year and is enjoying an exciting career for a large corporation.  Oh, yes, I also have two adorable cats, Remi and Lucy.

About six years ago, I was made redundant from a job I’d had for 10 years. Too young for early retirement, but unable to find a new job, I turned my focus to becoming an online entrepreneur. Travel had always been something that I cherished, but I either had the time to travel and no money, or I had the money to travel, but no time. This, I thought, would be the perfect opportunity to create the lifestyle I had been dreaming of for years.

And everything was building nicely until I became ill with a chronic illness. The next two years were spent struggling to get well, which I have finally achieved, and then trying to rebuild my business. Funny thing, the business I had been trying to build before I got sick no longer interested me, so I was back at square one, trying to figure out what I really, really wanted to do with the rest of my life. And trying to find ways to overcome the challenges that a “more mature” woman faces when trying to make major transformations in their life.

What I learned during this rebuilding period was simple, but profound – follow your dreams. If you’ve been dreaming about a certain lifestyle, if your mind continually wanders to images of that lifestyle, if you’re jealous of people living that lifestyle, then maybe it’s time for you to start creating that lifestyle for yourself. For you to be holding on that that dream for as long as you have, indicates that this lifestyle you dream about is important to you, and you owe it to yourself to go after it!

The thing that I love about the Ageless Nomads, location independent, laptop-based lifestyle is, that it helps you create the foundation on which you can build just about any lifestyle you can dream of.

What lifestyle do you see yourself living over the next 20, 30, 40 years?

What lifestyle do you dream of living for the next 20, 30, or 40 years?
